| Untitled (On the Ideology of Snow: Shifts (Part 1), 2011 | |
Dressing Room gallery. Minneapolis, MN. 2-channel video projection, sheetrock, speakers. Dimensions approx: bottom 60”x100”, top 100”x170”. Collaboration with Gaetano Cunsolo. The two images projected onto the slabs of sheetrock on the floor (raised about ½ inch from the ground) are of each of our hands using a stick to draw in the snow. The soundtrack is simply the sound of the street traffic and birds where we made the drawings at my house. The projection on the ceiling above these is of experiments of throwing boiling water into the freezing air to make our own snow. The clips are slowed down so that they are abstract and atmospheric, and the projection acts as a skylight (also relating to the actual skylight in the space that was dark because of the early sunset in winter). |
