Outdoor installation space. Rochester Art Center, MN. Plywood, mirrored acrylic sheet, blue acrylic sheet, adhesive, silicone. 12'x12' square at base, highest peak 42", lowest edge 12". Top view from 2nd floor inside. This sculpture was created for a 12'x12' concrete slab installed in the green space in the corner of the L-shaped art center. The sculpture includes a mirrored top as an ephemeral element, changing with the sky and seasons. It also hints at the original intention for this space to be a reflection pond. The blue sides refer to the water in the river alongside the art center and play off of the colors in the landscaping and architecture. The overall design references elements in the architecture, both on the facade of the building and inside. |
