"Sleight of Hand," Dwelling Place, part of "Urban Lights" event. Grand Rapids, MI. White contact paper. Dimensions variable. This series of three white contact paper pieces are ghost images of architectural elements in the gallery space: the thermostat, the pressed tin celiling design, and a vent up at the very top of the wall. While the image of the thermostat is in close proximity to the real object to provide a cue for the viewer, the images of the celing design and the vent invite the viewer to inspect the gallery and look at all of the things that they would normally ignore. This exhibition invited artists to make "invisible work."
